Walls that teach

Client: Macquarie University International College

As part of a major refurbishment of Macquarie University International College, the head of the school commissioned D&O to create “walls that teach”—giant infographic murals installed throughout the new building. Each one was designed to help newly-arrived students recognise and manage common emotional and psychological hurdles associated with being a tertiary student in a foreign country. One of the many design challenges was representing ‘students’ without any literal references to race, age, gender or religion.
