On the back of our work on the highly successful Resilience Journal, Central Coast Council approached us to create another suite of materials to continue the work of the NSW Government Bushfire Recovery program. This time, it was a set of four Local Area Guides spanning the Hawkesbury in the south to Yarramalong in the north.
Each guide acts as a complete who’s who/where’s where/what’s what of each area, with a focus on what to do in an emergency. The guides are designed not so much for locals, but for the significant number of tourists and short-term visitors to each area. To this end they include maps, information on local landmarks and essential services, a fire and flood information fridge magnet, local business cards (that can be filled in by accommodation owners and hosts), and spare waterproof sleeves to store other relevant and useful information (like where to buy pizza!).
